The Last Day of School…
Today, December 20th (Friday), was the last school day for our cultural exchange student, Charlie. The day began with a morning assembly, and he had prepared a farewell speech in Japanese for this time. He spoke about the teachers who had taken care of him, the irreplaceable classmates he had met in Japan, and his activities in the club that he had continued since April. His speech was so fluent that it was clear he had worked hard to learn Japanese for the past 10 months. It moved all the students and teachers at the school!
Then, during the 6th period, the students of the patisserie course from his class, 2nd-year Class 8, surprised him by hosting a farewell party! Charlie was very happy with the message and the towel gifts from the classmates he had spent the past 10 months with. It will surely become a lifelong treasure for him!
Opportunities to make such wonderful connections are rare in life. I believe it was fate that we were in the same class. I hope that the current students will make use of the experience they had with Charlie in various situations. Also, I hope that Charlie will make the most of the experience he had with Class 2-8 in his home country of New Zealand, and that one day we hope they will be able to see again.
A great shot with his homeroom teacher, Mr. Murashima, and the final hug! We were able to take a wonderful photo! His ‘Sorry I’m late!’ was quite unforgettable!
Charlie, thank you for coming to Keisei! Take care and best wishes!
