the First School Festival for Exchange Students
Although there’s a time difference, the school’s cultural festival was held on the 1st and 2nd of last week! Our exchange students also secretly underwent intense training for a month in preparation for their stage performance at the prefectural theater on the first day.
Three songs for the performance! The first song was a rock music piece by Charlie, Marley, and Alex. The second was a piano and vocal performance by Marley. In the third song, ‘Feeling Good,’ Marley collaborated with the school’s brass band! Below is a glimpse of the rehearsal.✨
Marley and Alex had only been in Japan for two months and were still getting used to the Japanese language, yet they practiced hard within their daily lives here! Charlie, who had been living in Japan for six months, was leading the two of them!
During the performance, there was also a special speech in Japanese by Ndiova as the MC, and we were all deeply moved by Ndiova’s Japanese skills, which have been developed over the past three years! In fact, there was no rehearsal beforehand—it was all improvised on the spot!
As expected, the entire school was energized during the performance, and everyone—students, staff, and guests—was captivated by Marley’s singing! It’s no surprise, considering Marley was enrolled in a music school back in their home country! Over the past month, there were many challenges, including changes to the songs, but all three of them worked hard, and I’m sure this became one of their cherished memories of Japan. Despite being here for only 10 months, I hope they continue to create many more wonderful memories!
